Join Dorothy and her friends as they journey down the yellow brick road – but look out for the Wicked Witch of the West! Three chances to see the show: Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 12pm & 7pm. Tickets available online; all remaining tickets will be available at the door.

National Honor Society Member Awarded National Scholarship

Elizabeth Luyben, a senior and National Honor Society (NHS) member at Wyomissing Area Junior/Senior High School, has been named one of 575 national semifinalists in the National Honor Society Scholarship program. Elizabeth was chosen from more than 11,000 applicants and will receive a $3,200 scholarship.

West Reading Elementary Center Receives Grant

The LOVE Team of West Reading presented a check to the West Reading Elementary Center and the Wyomissing Area Education Foundation (WAEF) representing the proceeds from this past fall’s Giving Goes Glam fundraiser, held at the Neag Planetarium on October 3, 2018. These funds were used to purchase 35 ukuleles and lesson books for students at the school. WAEF is grateful for the support of the LOVE Team!

Musicians included teachers from across the district, parents, and Wyomissing Area Junior/Senior High School graduates.

This week’s featured Internship focuses on Junior Katie Riddle who enjoys helping others and is interested in a career in speech/language pathology. She chose to intern in Emily Emerson’s Life Skills and Autistic Support classroom so that she could become comfortable with the students there.

Art students paint portraits. English students write biographies. And physics students calculate the distance and velocity of an angry bird in flight. This year students in Dr. Brian Liskey’s ninth-grade physics class used the popular gaming app, Angry Birds, to learn about forces in motion.
