Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an increasingly important tool for teaching, learning, and preparing students for college, careers, and responsible digital citizenship. At the Wyomissing Area School District, AI is incorporated thoughtfully across grade levels in age-appropriate and educationally meaningful ways. The scope and use of AI varies by grade, course, and instructional purpose, with teachers providing clear expectations for when and how AI tools may be used. Students are expected to use only District-approved AI applications and services that have been reviewed for educational value, student privacy, and data security. All use of AI is governed by District Board policies, administrative guidelines, and expectations for academic integrity, ensuring that AI enhances learning while supporting ethical, safe, and responsible use.
Student Scale of AI Use
When used in the classroom, artificial intelligence (AI) should support teaching and learning in ways that align with the instructional goals established by Wyomissing Area School District. Teachers will provide clear expectations regarding when AI tools are permitted and how they may be used for specific assignments, projects, or classroom activities.
The following Student Use Scales are provided to help define the levels to which AI tools are permitted.
Students are expected to use AI responsibly, ethically, and with appropriate acknowledgment or citation when AI-generated content contributes to their work. Misuse of AI, including representing AI-generated work as one's own or using AI in ways that violate teacher expectations or the District's academic integrity standards, is inconsistent with the values of Wyomissing Area School District.

USE No AI use. DESCRIPTION Artificial intelligence (AI) may not be used to create, assist with, or contribute to student work. All submitted work must be the student's own original creation, completed independently without AI assistance. DISCLOSURE REQUIREMENTS No citation needed. -
USE AI ASSISTED EDITING DESCRIPTION Artificial intelligence (AI) may be used to improve student-created work by enhancing clarity, organization, grammar, and conciseness.
All revisions must be reviewed and approved by both the student and the teacher, and the ideas, analysis, and content must remain the student's original work.

USE AI ASSISTED GENERATION, STRUCTURING, AND COACHING DESCRIPTION Artificial intelligence (AI) may be used to generate initial ideas, brainstorm topics, or provide a framework for student work.
Students are responsible for developing, expanding, and completing the final product using their own original thinking and understanding.

USE AI DIRECTED & ACTIVE COLLABORATOR DESCRIPTION Artificial intelligence (AI) may be used to complete designated portions of a student assignment as a supplemental support.
Students are responsible for critically evaluating, verifying, and revising any AI-generated content to ensure the final product is accurate, appropriate, and reflects their own understanding.
DISCLOSURE REQUIREMENTS Citation or statement explaining how AI was used
Any content created needs a proper MLA, APA, or appropriate citation
